🖋️ Favor to Ask

I want to learn more about venture studios. Can you help to connect me with someone who would be willing to have a 30-minute conversation? Thanks in advance for your consideration! Please provide an intro via [email protected] or via my LinkedIn profile

🏆️ Who would you like to thank? 🏆️

Being in LA this weekend has me thinking about entertainment award shows and the amount of time the winners spend thanking all the folks who were instrumental in their success. While tech might not have a glitzy night dedicated to individual career accomplishments, we would like to start highlighting some of our TechWalk community members and the folks who helped them out on their career journeys. Want to be featured? Send us a message - [email protected]

First up meet Andrea DiCastro - She is an accomplished Product Developer and Manager with extensive experience in Media, Fitness & Wellness, eCommerce, Marketplaces, and Luxury sectors. She thrives on solving complex challenges and is passionate about the intricacies of product development. Andrea is available for informational chats and pro bono advisory work. Connect with Andrea if you would like to be a part of her career journey and keep reading to learn more about who she’s thankful for.

Q: Tell me about a person who has been really helpful or influential in your career?

I am going to call out the original influencer, Professor Yamaguchi from the Journalism School at the University of Oklahoma, whose passion for visual storytelling and attention to detail left a lasting impact on me. Her influence led me to pursue layout and design at the Dallas Business Journal, sparking my journey toward becoming a Product Developer. Her mantra, that success lies in the details, continues to shape my approach to product development today.

Q: Are you still in contact with this person? What does your relationship look like today?

Unfortunately, I’ve completely lost touch with her, but I often think about how her lessons in attention to detail have continued to shape my approach.

Q: Is there a person from a past professional life with whom you would like to catch up?

I have a superpower for staying connected with people who’ve impacted my career, thanks to modern tech tools. I’m long overdue for a proper catch-up with TJ Ewing and Tibor Mozes, both of whom played a key role during my time in Budapest and when I first moved to NYC. I’m hoping to reconnect with TJ around Thanksgiving and will plan a call with Tibor soon.

Q: What's your best memory from your interactions with these folks?

Both TJ and Tibor, likely without realizing it, helped me navigate the challenges and rewards of working at a startup in a foreign country. It was an incredible experience!
