Advice Requested

Need some advice? Ask a question and we’ll connect you to someone who can help.

Hi Paul,

Love what you’re doing, it’s such a timely and meaningful space. As a first step, I’d suggest creating some ā€œmicro breaks for mega impactā€ content to help you stand out and boost visibility: short posts or videos that highlight the power of stepping away from the screen to recharge. Use humor. Keep it light, real, and fun.

Then, balance the playful side with more practical pieces - quick insights, reflections, and tips to build your voice as a relatable thought leader. That blend of authenticity and levity works beautifully on both LinkedIn and Instagram.

And of course, if you’re ready to orchestrate your tactics into a well-defined short- and long-term plan that drives visibility and results, write to the maestro directly.

Good luck,
Francesca.

Notes from Christine

Hi, I’m Christine Farrier Rosemin, founder of TechWalk and until last Wednesday, the Head of Partner Marketing at Rho. That’s right. I got laid off. As the founder of a professional networking community, you might guess I’ve got a lot of thoughts on this topic! And you would be right. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing how I’m managing this layoff. Please come along for the ride and if this sparks some thoughts of your own, I’d love to hear them.

A 20-Point Layoff Plan (Part 1)

  1. I’m not hiding. The last time I got laid off, I was ashamed to talk about it. I thought it would negatively impact my ā€œbrandā€ and hurt my chances of finding a new role. But here’s the thing. Every role provides the opportunity to build a platform, and I leveraged that platform, intentionally and some might say aggressively šŸ™‚ Not posting about the layoff would feel inauthentic and off-brand. Also, layoffs happen. More and more these days. I’m passionate about removing the stigma. So I wrote about the layoff HERE in a way that felt to me very respectful, very mindful, very demure. Feel like sharing a word of encouragement? I’d love to hear it.

  2. I’m uplifting others. I wasn’t the only one affected by this layoff and so I’m using my voice to champion others who were impacted. As of last count, I’ve got almost 13K followers on Linkedin. I strongly believe that someone out there can help my other teammates - starting with Chrystal Price. Yes, she’s the TechWalk Chicago Chapter Director but also a damn good strategy and operations partner. She was t the secret weapon behind my most successful campaigns this year and she’s looking for her next role as well. Check out this post to learn more.

  3. I’m taking classes. I market to accountants and finance professionals. I’d like to stay in this space. So it’s about time I took some accounting and finance classes. Wish me luck.

  4. I’m opening my calendar. When you’re working full-time, open slots in the calendar are a precious commodity. Well, for the foreseeable future, I’ve got some bandwidth, so let’s chat about anything and everything. I’m most interested in conversations about community, podcasts, marketing, writing a book, lifting weights, interviewing TechWalk community members for our Linkedin lives and finding volunteers for our upcoming Talent events. Please book time if you would like to connect.

Have some other suggestions or thoughts on what I’ve come up with so far? Let me know - [email protected]. Otherwise see you next week with Part 2.
