Welcome to the weekly and as yet un-named newsletter from TechWalk. We are a networking community for Tech and SaaS professionals that offers weekly walks hosted by industry experts and interesting individuals.

5.8 TechWalk Co-Host Announcement

Apparently back in the 1960’s President Lyndon Johnson commented that his political opponent Gerald Ford was too dumb to walk and chew gum at the same time. This expression gained popularity and some scientific notoriety to explain the dangers of multitasking. Research noted that in an attempt to do two things at once, neither thing gets done very well. Fast forward to modern times and I think we all struggle with the challenge of maintaining focused attention on one particular activity at any given time, especially with the allure of a dopamine boost just a digital click away. However, some new studies support very particular task pairings that do in fact yield improved outcomes:

  • Walking meetings

  • Cleaning and brainstorming

  • Music and exercise

  • Stretching while watching TV

There’s momentum in healthcare innovation today that’s really exciting” 

  • Niha Jain, Principal Investor, Redwood Pacific Management LLC - “I’m passionate about creating better patient experiences in U.S. healthcare. I’ve worked in several nonprofit health systems, a digital health startup, and am now an investor backing innovative early-stage healthcare companies. I’m really comfortable chatting about trends in U.S. healthcare, venture capital investing at the early stage (Seed, Series A), working in nonprofit health systems, working in management consulting (started my career at Bain) and the ROI of getting an MBA”

It’s happening! Our NY TechWeek TechWalk is on the official calendar.

Our April FINTech Week event attracted close to 300 registrants and a walk that bordered on a march! I guess we were protesting stale networking events?
