🤦🏽‍♀️ Hi from TechWalk: Ooops, we made a mistake

We accidentally sent out a copy of last week's newsletter. Sorry about that 😬

Welcome to the weekly and as yet un-named newsletter from TechWalk. We are a networking community for Tech and SaaS professionals that offers weekly walks hosted by industry experts and interesting individuals.

Welcome to our FINTechWalk Volunteers!

THIS is the power of community. In last week’s newsletter, we put out a call for volunteers for our FINTechWalk and I was blown away by the response. So as our registrations continue to rack up, (230 and counting) I’m so relieved that we’ll have a strong group of guides available to ensure that everyone has a great walk. Will you help me to thank our guides by sending them a few words of appreciation on Linkedin? You can either pile in on this post or send them a note of your own. Volunteers are listed in the order by which they responded. Thank you Casey Williams for your lightning-fast fingers and opening the floodgates!

If our Co-Hosts have piqued your interest, here’s a little background to inform your outreach

  • Cindy Rentala, Advisor, Investor, ex-Visa/Amex, and Founder, Rise First - answered the question “How are you feeling about the tech space these days? “Optimistic, because I believe in human creativity and ingenuity. If we work together, we can solve some of the world’s most challenging issues – climate change, misinformation, food insecurity and financial inclusion (to name a few).”

  • Joseph Chu, Head of Credit, Meanwhile used his time in the spotlight to pay it forward and nominate five folks as future Co-Hosts including Wesley Tjosvold, Rene Van Kesteren, Yuka O’Connor, and Matt Frankle

  • Sasha Tsiatsera, Director, Product Development, Mastercard shared this quick bio “Having immigrated to the US by myself at the age of 19 with a couple hundred dollars in my wallet, I understand firsthand the significance of community and relationships. Having transitioned through four different career paths since graduating, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have crafted a career that integrates the invaluable lessons from each of my past experiences - consulting, commercialization, security and compliance, and project and product management. Presently, I am leading the North American commercialization efforts for blockchain products at Mastercard. In this role, I collaborate with leading web3 companies and traditional financial institutions to drive the adoption of digital assets.”

  • TJ Lind, Director of Marketing, Percent offered up some of the topics he is comfortable discussing:

    • Running a Killer Marketing Team on a Shoestring Budget: Leveraging creativity and strategic resource allocation, I’ve led marketing teams to exceed their objectives without the luxury of large budgets or extensive manpower, proving that efficiency and innovation can drive success even in resource-constrained environments.

    • Volunteerism and Mentorship: Through my volunteer work with DECA and BPA, I love empowering the next generation of marketers and entrepreneurs, sharing my expertise to inspire and guide students in their career paths and personal development.

    • Transferable Skills Across Sectors: My diverse experience across ridesharing, education, hospitality, and fintech illustrates how the core principles of effective marketing transcends industry boundaries, showcasing the universal language of engaging storytelling and strategic brand positioning. Basically, don’t think you’re pigeonholed into a single sector forever.

    • Taking B2B Strategies into B2C: By adopting B2B strategies within B2C contexts, I’ve learned how deep customer insights and tailored engagement can enrich consumer brands.

    • Brand Building for Marketplaces: At Percent, Uber, and Lyft, I navigated the complex challenge of branding for multifaceted marketplace platforms, crafting cohesive identities that resonate with diverse customer groups with very different needs and motivations.
